Linux on the iSeries (AS/400). A decision
has been taken by IBM to implement Linux on the AS/400 (which allows a 64-bit
scalability) in native mode on a logical partition. This will open new
possibilities especially for Web applications. It is also possible to have
multiple Linux systems, running on separate logical partitions and
communicating with back-end applications running under O/S400 and benefiting
from the solidity of the AS/400 platform.
Linux Certification. You can find a lot of
interesting information about Linux Certification at
The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI). You will find some good books and training materials about Linux on

known truth is the fact that it is quite easy to develop CGI programs and Web
Applications by using traditional AS/400 languages such as Cobol or RPG. You
will find very useful information and a lot of FREE downloadable software on
the following IBM site Get

Rochester has released the Apache ( http://httpd.apache.org/ ) HTTP Server for
iSeries, which can run alongside the box's own HTTP server. While other IBM
platforms bundle the Apache HTTP server with WebSphere, Rochester will provide
it free with the OS/400. WebSphere users will be able to run on either Apache
or IBM HTTP Server for iSeries. For more details see the
