Some useful AS/400 integration utilities This report presents some useful utilities to transfer data between AS/400 and Linux/PCs applications.
An AS/400 Cross Reference tool The report provides some information about an AS/400 application which allows to build a cross reference database of application objects and use it for inquiries and reports.

We have also published some e-books on the above and other general purpose utilities, with a full documentation of the programs and their functions. IBM FREE Downlods. If you want to try leading edge products such as Websphare Studio and Websphere Application Server, you can download an evaluation copy for FREE from the IBM Websphere Developer Domain If you want to find documentation about Websphere look in the IBM Websphere Doc Finder site.

Linux on the iSeries (AS/400). A decision has been taken by IBM to implement Linux on the AS/400 (which allows a 64-bit scalability) in native mode on a logical partition. This will open new possibilities especially for Web applications. It is also possible to have multiple Linux systems, running on separate logical partitions and communicating with back-end applications running under O/S400 and benefiting from the solidity of the AS/400 platform.

Linux Certification. You can find a lot of interesting information about Linux Certification at The Linux Professional Institute (LPI). You will find some good books and training materials about Linux on our Linux site.

A 5250 emulator for Linux. If you need to access the iSeries 400 (AS/400) from Linux, you can try some emulators such as Linux 5250 or Mocha Linux TN5250

CGI Programming on the AS/400. One little known truth is the fact that it is quite easy to develop CGI programs and Web Applications by using traditional AS/400 languages such as Cobol or RPG. You will find very useful information and a lot of FREE downloadable software on the following IBM site Get to the Web with your RPG/400

Web Programming in RPG. Another way to produce powerful Web pages from an RPG program is described by RPG Smart Pages (RPGsp). They provide also a freely downloadable IDE that offers an array of advanced features.

IBM Tutorials. IBM provides good free tutorials on JAVA, XML and more. Apache on the AS/400 (iSeries 400). Rochester has released the Apache ( http://httpd.apache.org/ ) HTTP Server for iSeries, which can run alongside the box's own HTTP server. While other IBM platforms bundle the Apache HTTP server with WebSphere, Rochester will provide it free with the OS/400. WebSphere users will be able to run on either Apache or IBM HTTP Server for iSeries. For more details see the IBM's Apache support site and the following Apache HTTP FAQ

Zope is a new Application server written in Python that includes a Web server and an SQL database. It is free and open source and it makes it much easier to maintain a web site, and to build applications for the web. You can easily download it and install it by visiting Zope Org.
